The middle of the Cubs lineup stepped up, with Xavier Nady scoring twice, Geo Soto going 3-3, and Alfonso Soriano driving in two. But the story was Jeff Samardzija, making his first Major League start of the year, throwing 5.2 scoreless. Nobody seems to be commenting on the 10 baserunners he gave up in those 5.2 innings, so I guess I won’t poop on the party.
