well the Cubs have battled back in our historic pretend season and now must face the Mets(we're playing in the classic, old, NL east that I grew up with) in a one game play-off for the division title...our bullpen is spent...and we have used starters 1-5 to get here...none of them can pitch...we must choose one of these Cub greats to start game 163

1996 Jim Bullinger 6-10 6.54
1996 Kevin Foster 7-6 6.21(nice rotation in 96!)
2006 Glendon Rusch 3-8 7.46

good luck!

Definitely Rusch for me; it seemed like, at random times, he would bust out a dominant game when you least expected it.

Yup. Rusch, for exactly the reasons that Ace gave.

Or, D. Jeff Pico.

I was considering Pico in there...but his numbers were surprisingly good compared to these guys...

What about me? Can I just choose me instead of the original 3? It's cool. I pitched 1/2 an inning in 8th grade. I've been throwing the rock in the back yard for the retriever. I think I could fare pretty well.

Maybe he pitched the top half? Or the bottom half?

:)
And that's a bad miss...

The four strikeout innings could make it possible, probably not in an official sense, but if each pitcher strikes out two men, don't both pitchers pitch for half an inning?

Wow, I can't believe the Cubs actually used to carry starters with era's over 6 runs into the next season hoping to get better.

Rusch is the guy in this situation. I tried to convince myself it was Bullinger because I remember him ptiching some pretty good games for the Cubs, but then I looked at his game logs, and he was the James Russell experiment 1.0.

I would have to say Glendon Rusch. He would get one of those brilliant games that made you wonder why he wasn't in the rotation to begin with. Then we get torched for 9 runs in two innings and you say " Oh yeah, now I remember...."

Kevin Foster and Jim Bullinger brings back some bad memories. What is it with this organization and position players becoming pitchers? I don't think Kevin was a position player but Bullinger was. Is it a common thing in other teams?

I looked up Foster's stats and saw another name for this list ..... Shawn Boskie.

It's very complicated. Lots of ins and (1.5) outs.
