The Chicago Bears’ offensive line shuffle continued in Week 3 with another injury to an interior lineman.
Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports center Hroniss Grasu injured his hand, and his return was listed as questionable. With right guard Josh Sitton out with a rib injury, Grasu started at center as the Bears moved Cody Whitehair to left guard. That put Kyle Long, who started the season as the No. 1 left guard on the depth chart, at his familiar right guard spot.
Things changed with Grasu’s injury, though. Whitehair moved back to center and Bradley Sowell came into play left guard. Sowell played 25 snaps at left guard in the Bears’ Week 2 loss against the Buccaneers. For what it’s worth, Grasu started the second half on the sideline when the Bears returned to the field.
It appeared tight end Adam Shaheen also suffered a hand injury in the first half, as Adam Hoge of WGN Radio notes Shaheen was favoring his hand and came off the field after committing a penalty. Shaheen returned to action and scored the Bears’ second touchdown that started what might have been the craziest final minute of football you’ll see in 2017.
