I know we haven't even started Spring Training games, hell, we aren't even at the mandatory reporting deadline, but I'm trying to start making arrangements to head to the All-Star Game. Kauffman is about 3 hours from my house (Busch is also about 3 hours away, but I didn't make it to the ASG when it was held there) and I wouldn't mind going. I have a feeling I'll be trolling Craigslist looking for tickets in a few months, all to watch Starlin Castro boot a soft ground in the 2nd inning. Has anyone else entertained thoughts of attending? In case you have, remember that K.C. is a barren wasteland and the only thing near the stadium is another stadium, so plan accordingly. By that I mean bring a van full of beer.

You think Castro will be on the field in the 2nd inning?

That would be pretty sweet. :)
And that's a bad miss...

Ha - that was my first reaction, too.

I'm not too far away from KC either but I doubt I'll pony up the moola for ASG tickets. Kauffman is a beautiful stadium so I might go catch a Royals game this summer for the hell of it. You must stay at the Drury Inn across I-70. That way you can get drunk as shit and just walk back to your hotel.
Peg: Oh Al! Did you miss me?
Al: With every bullet, so far.

All-Star starters are a fan vote, and there are a lot of Cubs fans. I'd think he's the favorite to be the starter going into the season.

Reyes will be injured by then and Cubs fans outnumber Rockies fans, so I can easily see Castro winning the fan vote over Tulo.

Edit: I hate posting from my phone, makes me sound like a Nigerian prince who needs assistance in collecting my fortune.

Dave, are you located in Columbia? I have a brother that lives there, doubt you know him but always interested in seeing just how connected the world is.

I'm in Springfield, but I went to school in Columbia. I try to make it up there for a baseball game or two every year.

Short of an explosive first half, I think it's a very safe bet that Castro is, at best, third in voting at shortstop behind Reyes and Tulo. Having few Rockies fans last year didn't hurt Tulo's vote.
