To date, we’ve heard very little about Kosuke Fukudome, who most have assumed would be moved this winter. The right fielder is set to earn $13.5 million in 2011, the last year of his deal, and the Cubs would like to allow Tyler Colvin to become a full-time starter in the outfield.
So why have we heard very little? According to Jon Morosi the Cubs have been waiting to actively shop Fukudome until they had a first baseman in place, on the thinking that if they couldn’t land a first baseman, they would need Colvin at first, and Fukudome in right.
That may mean that we could start hearing some rumors about Fukudome soon, with the first base answer coming into focus.
