why do people think that rotation looks okay? no ace, and the only guy with 180+ IP was Burnett.

No one stands out as being really bad, and no one stands out as being really good either... The point that im trying to make though is that the Pirates rotation is set up to keep them in games not to win them or lose them (kinda like Tebow with the Broncos, he did enough to not lose... and thats how I would describe the pirates rotation)

I think their defense will make the rotation look much better than they are on paper.

still though...when was the last time a team with no ace had 90+ wins? especially a team with no ace AND an offense that will not rank in the top 10. the pirates will not be a playoff team this year. and they won't make the playoffs until their top pitching prospects are ready to start in the majors...so maybe next year?

They don't need 90+ wins to win the division. The central is gearing up to be the worst division in baseball (AL is worse overall but Detroit lifts them) and every team has holes. You could win this division with 84 wins.

84 wins? I don't think the Brewers are going to drop that far. I think it'll still take 88+ wins to take the division; 92 wouldn't surprise me.

I expect the Cubs to finish ahead of the Pirates in 2012. Their starting pitchers just aren't good enough.
