I was driving home yesterday, as I enjoy doing, listening to the MLB channel on XM, as I enjoy doing when they talk about baseball but Casey Stern was gone so I didn't have to sit through 30 minutes of "Lincessant" basketball chatter. (Run on much?)
Mike Ferrin was sitting in for CS and Jim Bowden was there as always. They were discussing 6 teams and who had the best manager and GM. Bowden wanted no part of naming one or two of the best GM's and said they were all good. Ferrin coaxed him into talking more about each. One of the teams was San Francisco. One of them made a valid point that Sabean had a World Series winner and drafted and developed their pitching staff blah blah blah. (I'm sorry. All I can think about when I think of Sabean is trading Nathan and Liriano for one season of AJ.) Then, I'm not sure which one said it, but he mentioned getting Dick Tidrow as part of the front office as an attribute to Brian Sabean.

@BleacherNation @MichiganGoat @KatieKatCubs just had a Dick Tidrow reference on inside pitch on xm. Just sayin'.

@MichiganGoat @BleacherNation @KatieKatCubs they were talking about how great each teams GM was and mentioned DT as part of SF's FO.

@MichiganGoat @shawnohare1 @katiekatcubs Know what show it was on? The context?

@BleacherNation @MichiganGoat @katiekatcubs it was on Inside Pitch at about 4:45 pm CST

In reply to Brett Taylor

@MikeFerrinSXM Dick Tidrow reference earlier today has bleachernation.com all in a tizzy.

@MikeFerrinSXM
@shawnohare1 didn't see the Tidrow thing, but we talked about that Garza stuff.

@MikeFerrinSXM not sure of the story, but somehow, DT has taken on a mythic Bill Braske, Chuck Norris quality on that site.

In reply to Mike Ferrin

@MikeFerrinSXM So when he is mentioned outside the site we all go nuts like Stratofanatics at Lenny Dykstra's mention of SOM in the 86 NLCS

"@MikeFerrinSXM: @shawnohare1 he kinda has that quality in the game too. Tidrow is totally ninja." @BleacherNation

@MikeFerrinSXM
@shawnohare1 I love it! I'd love to get him on, but he doesn't do any media. Amazing pitching guru. And an 80
'stache 1.bp.blogspot.com/_AvIB4ZqSUvg/S…

@MikeFerrinSXM if you could just let him know he has cult status at bleachernation that would be awesome! Thanks Mike.

That is too funny. If we ever do a get together at Wrigley, we should all wear BN shirts and fake Tidrow 'staches for a group photo.

I think I'll add a mustache to my avatar on his birthday. Maybe Brett can grow one for the trade deadline.

Ace, do you have a way to search the comments? Using the search function at the top of the page only scans the articles. I'd really like to find the first time that die hard mentioned Dick Tidrow. I'm guessing it was some time in mid/late September, as his prudishness cause him to bail from the comments for most of the season, but he reappeared late in the season, once the discussion of the new GM started up in earnest.

Here it is, complete with a copy and paste warning:

http://www.bleachern...ndrew-friedman/

(die hard basically just suggests Tidrow as a GM candidate. I win the award for the first 'Stache mention.)

Random aside, and I'm going to jinx it by saying it, but ... is it just me, or has die hard been, like, kind of a pretty good commenter lately?

Been making some lucid comments lately, but occasionally seems to go off his meds. Not anything malicious, just crazy stuff.

Yeah, that's pretty much how he is. He's entertaining, and I really don't mean that in a condescending way. I think I've said this before, but he's kind of like my father-in-law. Says a bunch of stuff to provike a reaction. Sometimes it's trolling, sometimes it's worth considering, but it's mostly genuine, and you can usually tell a difference.
