Aaron Rodgers’ collarbone injury might not be one that finishes his season.
The Green Bay Packers placed their star quarterback on injured reserve on Friday, which means Rodgers will be out a minimum of eight weeks and can’t return until Week 15 at the earliest. Rodgers broke his right collarbone in the team’s Week 6 loss against the Minnesota Vikings.
It’s admittedly a long shot, but Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports the Packers are holding out hope Rodgers can make a late-season return.
If Rodgers recovers in time for a Week 15 return, he could play in the team’s final three games against the Panthers, Vikings, and Detroit Lions. Rodgers’ return could impact a division title race, much like it did when he returned from a left collarbone injury in 2013. However, this injury is a bit more serious because it impacts his throwing arm.
While the Packers await their star’s potential return, the team turns to Brett Hundley, who threw three interceptions against the Vikings in relief of Rodgers on Sunday. Hundley was selected in the fifth-round of the 2015 NFL Draft. The UCLA product has appeared in six regular season games and thrown a grand total of 44 passes. At least his first start will come at the friendly confines of Lambeau Field against the New Orleans Saints.
