First thing will go first today, my friends: the Bears won again! It’s a winning streak!
…
But boy was that a weird one. The Bears’ defense was appropriately stifling – just imagine how good they’d be right now if they hadn’t been decimated by injuries in the first two weeks – and pretty much did it all in this one. In fact, they were so good that they effectively kept the Bears’ offense off the field for much of the game (well, plus the offense’s inability to put a drive together – three quarters of the passing yards in the game came on a single completion to Tarik Cohen).
You may as well call this The Eddie Jackson Game, as the rookie safety not only scooped a fumble up for a 75-yard touchdown return, he had a pick-6 of the same length+1.
Offensively, well … let’s talk more about the defense. Because they staked the Bears to an early lead, made it 17-3 at half, and wound up sacking Cam Newton five times, there wasn’t much need for Mitch Trubisky to throw the ball. And boy did he not.
It’s going to be fun to unpack this one, and also to dream about the Bears beating the Falcons and Vikings in weeks past, and having just started the season 5-2.
