Is the Cape a name for a mental hospital?

Has he escaped from somewhere?

By Cape Canaveral, I meant the NASA base / typical tourist attraction (which is really cool, by the way). No hidden meanings there.

And no on the escapes.

So the detective looked in the wallet and knew the number of where this gentleman was at?

We have to focus on the unusual things that we know. The fact that he left his wallet at the bar matters. He was in an accident. He has a mental condition. He's not from the US.

I'm pretty sure all of those things are significant. Have crawl before we walk, and all that.

on the mental condition:
Does he have dementia / alzheimer's?
or
Was he crazy?

Is he from Earth?

Is this in the future?

Is it significant that the weather was bad?

Is the timeline important? i.e. he was reported lost at noon (around lunch time) and found at 8 p.m.

Did he check into the hotel?

Was he in Daytona for the race?

Is he still near the resturant?

Was he found wondering around?

Is the country he is from important?

Did he eat an albatross sandwich?

Yes.
No.

But there is an aspect to this you might be assuming that may not be quite true.

Is he from Earth?

Is this in the future?

Is it significant that the weather was bad?

Yes.

No.

Somewhat. You can figure out how the detective was able to find the guy so easily (as well as what happened to the guy) without considering the weather, but the status of the weather is consistent with the chain of events.

The timeline is not very important, but to make sure there is no confusion on it I'm going to break it down.

Day 1 - Man checks out of hotel. Goes to lunch in the bar.
Day 2 - Man is reported missing around noon. Intensive man hunt begins. Around 6 the detective walks in, makes one call, and in about two hours the man is found.

He did not check into the hotel in Cocoa Beach (which, in case some of you are not familiar with Florida, is right next door to Cape Canaveral. You can literally sit on the beach and see a couple of NASA's launch pads).

And he was not in Daytona during the race.
