Yeah they are hitting very well thus far. Moreland said we have the most hits in all of baseball. I know it doesn't mean all that much, but it has to make you a little excited since the kids have had a big part in that.

He's gonna pitch the third inning, too. Most starters get just two innings at this point in ST, but his pitch count must be sufficiently low.

Three very good innings for Samardzija. I think he has to be the front runner for the fifth starter slot at this point. It is early yet, but that was an impressive performance against a pretty good lineup.

I'm thrilled by Samardzija's performance, and intrigued as far as the rotation goes.
But it's so, so very early, and he had so many guys to pass.

It beats the heck out of having the least hits.
Couldn't agree more. Lots of people say, "It's just spring training, it doesn't matter." But it really does. If everyone sucked people would freak out, but when they do well people are just like meh whatever.

In my experience, Cubs fans have tended to do the exact opposite of that. It's only in the last two years or so that we're a bit more fatalistic about positive Spring performances.
It beats the heck out of having the least hits.
Couldn't agree more. Lots of people say, "It's just spring training, it doesn't matter." But it really does. If everyone sucked people would freak out, but when they do well people are just like meh whatever.
Your take on Spring stats is right by me: they aren't meaningless, but they aren't necessarily predictive of breakout (or down) seasons.
