For many, learning that John Grabow has been struck down with an injury would be a sign of God’s benevolence, not his wrath. But Grabow is a part of this team – like it or not – so good health is better than bad.
Fortunately, Grabow doesn’t have a serious injury. Already coming off knee surgery last year (which corrected the ailment that was allegedly the cause of his terrible, terrible, terrible 2010 season), Grabow is now having some tightness in his throwing shoulder. I had noticed we hadn’t seen him in a Spring game in almost two weeks, but until now, I assumed that was part of his knee recovery schedule.
John Grabow has not pitched in a Cactus League game since the first one on Feb. 27 because of some tightness in his left shoulder. He has been able to do side work with pitching coach Mark Riggins, and will likely get back into a Cactus League game next week. Grabow is coming back from knee surgery last year that limited him to 28 games. “It’s nothing serious,” Mike Quade said. “We’re just being careful. You worry about his knee and every so often people coming back from that try to compensate and change their mechanics.” Muskat Ramblings.
Presumably, Grabow will be fine come April. Well, fine enough, that is, to make the bullpen, and then struggle through some dodgy appearances before mercifully heading back to the disabled list.
I kid. Hopefully.
