The Cubs have to use the White Sox dugout today, might as well write this one off.

Gun just showed a fastball at 63. Maybe it's just screwed up.

Did they just say concepcion is 20?

what?!?

Yeah, original reports had him as 18, turning 19 in late January; it now appears that he was 19, turning 20 in late January. Either way, the Cubs knew his age.

hmm...I'm significantly less okay with that signing now, I guess. His numbers were pretty meh last year, but as an 18yr old, they were pretty good. But as a 19 year old in an A-ball equivalent league, its not much to be excited about...damn

Garza is not only down a notch or two in velocity, he's all over the place.

I don't really think about it that way, but if I did, and he put up those numbers at 19 in Daytona, I'd be thrilled. 19 is still plenty young for High A ball.

So much for trading Garza for 12 1st round picks and Justin Turner and Miguel Cabrera.....

His pitch count has to be ridiculous right now.

Trying to think about what Garza could be working on (so I don't have to be concerned about the results). I'll tell you one thing - he's not really throwing many curves/sliders. Like, at all.

True, the lack of K numbers is what worries me more than anything, but a lefty can make that work pretty well...Theodore Roosevelt Lilly

and he did the exact same thing last spring too. I remember him being pretty upset with the thin air last spring and not being able to get any movement on his pitches at all

Yeah, I remember all that spilled ink - first Spring in Arizona and all that. His numbers were atrocious last Spring.

Hey, a Chris Rusin sighting. Some like him as a possible 5th starter type. I wonder if he's merely a "lefty who can throw strikes" kind of guy, who has minor league success, because it's easy to succeed in the minors as a lefty who can throw strikes.

Not much of an outing for Rusin, who's going to be pinch-hit for by Sappelt.
