Everyone Else Thinks They Suck

Apparently Aroldis Chapman is losing some zip on his heater and Jeff Passan is getting in on the hit parade: http://sports.yahoo....fastball_031512

And I hate to admit it but if Chapman can't cut it as a starter, I think we'd all agree they'll have the best 1-2 punch of lefty bullpen specialists you can buy for $46.25 million. So, when they're down five runs in the 7th inning, you can bet they aren't likely to be down much more in the 9th.

Geez, how does anybody follow up on TC's post? I guess I'll just add two addenda. I don't know that the Reds will truly suck, but they will suck at least enough to not win the division because their manager believes that "clutch" is real but OBP is not, and that consistent mediocrity is somehow better than talent with variability.

As a corollary to the first part, it will be fun listening to Reds' leadoff men explain that walks are not important, scoring is, with completely straight faces.....

On a side note, I will miss watching Alonso in left. That was funny....

One more reason.

Marty Brenneman:

On April 17, 2008, during the top of the eighth inning of a game between the Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Brennaman made comments about Cubs fans and the Cubs team.[4] His statements were aired over the Reds Radio Network broadcast of the game on 700 WLW (AM).

"This is the kind of thing, quite honestly, right now, that makes you want to see the Chicago Cubs team lose. Among all baseball fans, and I can't attest to the Yankees or Red Sox, because we don't see them with any degree of regularity unless it's inter-league play, but far and away the most obnoxious fans in baseball, in this league, are those who follow this team right here. Throwing 15 or 18 balls onto the field, there's absolutely no excuse for that, and that is so typical of Chicago Cubs fans. It's unbelievable."

"You simply root against 'em. Ya'know, I've said all winter they talked about this team winning the division, and my comment is they won't win it, because at the end of the day, they still are the Chicago Cubs, and they will figure out a way to screw this whole thing up." [5]

well, the only reason that Cinci fans won't be throwing 15 balls back onto the field when Arroyo or Latos pitch this year is that too many of the balls will sail into the river.......

That and the fact that there's never more than 14 people at a game.

This team is truly hard to figure out. With only a few big names, they finished with the third most runs in the league. I also attend his every match. I got my all sports tickets from Spam City, USA - home of the spam.

There have been 2, maybe three, others since the MB's naissance. Pretty sure Ace/MG knocked 'em out quickly.

Very, very few. Because you have to be registered (and go through that process) to post, it's a real pain in the ass for spammers. The barrier to entry on the blog is much, much lower (by design, for now, since I like to encourage broader participation there).
