The Cubs were almost certainly not going to beat Clayton Kershaw no matter who was pitching for them. I get that.
But that doesn’t stop me from being pissed off that, once again (again-again-again), things played out exactly as predicted: James Russell didn’t give the Cubs a chance to win, and the bullpen was flawless. We passed frustration weeks ago. I’m almost numb, and I’ll no longer be surprised if the Cubs elect to go with Russell for yet another start. If you’ve done something absolutely insane and indefensible four times, what’s five or six, right?
