2012 Radical Cubs OF idea
Posted 12 September 2011 - 05:39 AM
If the Cubs keep Pena, we have a platoon in all three OF spots...LaHair/Sori, Jackson/Byrd, Colvin/Reed Johnson(of course that's assuming Jackson is ready...BIG assumption)...that would give us 4 lefthanded bats to trot out there...something I have never seen in my 43 years of Cub suffering...If they do dump Soriano, even better, but if he played against lefties only(you know, the kind that don't throw right handed sliders)...you could recoup some of your investment...there is also something to be said for all of these guys competing for playing time
If you don't sign Pena...throw Campana into the mix....
just some random thoughts...I am a big believer in the "platoon"..it takes a special lefty to be able to hit lefties...and if any of you on BN have a decent RH slider...I am pretty sure you could whiff Soriano....

As much as I say I'm not convinced on LaHair, though, I'd absolutely be on board with giving him a shot in LF, even if Soriano isn't dealt.
That said, I have nightmarish visions of the Hollandsworth/Dubois platoon that was supposed to be awesome...

That begs for a photoshop (that is far beyond my skillz). We could call it Quimmer and feed it chewing tobacco and episodes of Leave it to Beaver to keep both sides of it happy.
How about a Quade/Don Zimmer managing platoon?
