Travis Wood starts today. The question is: does it matter? Does he have a chance to dazzle and land a rotation spot? Do his crappy Spring starts not matter in either direction?

If he strikes out the side in four straight innings on a total of 36 pitches, I think he will help his case significantly.

Other than that....

Byrd forgot his jersey? That's a little odd.

Yea, cause the first inning is his forte.

Padilla says that Sveum said before the game that Mather is basically on the team at this point.

I'm glad to hear it. I think he'll be a pleasant surprise this year. We could use a diamond-in-the-rough type player on the bench.

Does Travis Wood know what the fuck he's doing?

Or is he lost, feeling his last rotation shot slip away?

Wood's not fooling anyone. I don't know enough about his stuff to know if the Arizona air could be a factor, but this is just ugly.

I'm sorry, I really can't believe that TWood is "working" on anything here... other than giving up a 7-0 lead.

Nice opportunity for Jay Jackson, though.
