Yeah, the substance isn't all that surprising - but the fact that he's openly saying it now is pretty surprising.

He always know that once he rejected the previous offer and then the Brewers extended Braun and Weeks that his days as a Brewer were over. They just can't afford to pay him what he's worth on the open market, but then again he might not be worth as much as he hopes. Outside of the Cubs there aren't many large payroll teams in need of 1B... although a friend of mine keeps hoping that the Giants make a run at him because he thinks having Kung Fu Panda and Prince Albert on the corners in San Fran would be hilarious, since if you don't get a double you risk being eaten at the corners- it would be a fun to watch!

Maybe it's a ploy to get the Brewers in gear to pony up some money.. maybe there's been some internal talks and he doesn't feel like they'll re-sign him.. maybe he just can't wait to come on over to the "right side of the Cubs/Brewers rivalry".
either way, it seems fairly stupid to make that comment right before the playoffs. I'm not sure on his timing why he'd say that now?
