Cub's halves of innings have been awfully short this year. Lots of short counts, lots of swings, lots of outs.

First pitch swinging seems to be in full force again

It would appear that lots of the Cubs players have family gatherings to get to after the game...lots of early swinging. It's almost like they're afraid to get to 2 strikes.

Samardzija looks good, though!

Zimmerman has outstanding command, so the trend will continue all game. We just have to hope that he throws some hittable early strikes.

Having asked about what Zimmermann's pitching strategy might be later, how about Samardzija? It will be interiesting to see if and how hitters on both sides will adjust.
