It was a little more than a year ago when Alshon Jeffery stood in the vistor’s locker room at U.S. Bank Stadium and proclaimed “we” were going to win the Super Bowl.
Little did we know that “we” would end up being the Philadelphia Eagles … and that he would end up scoring the first touchdown of Super Bowl LII:
What a throw.

A GIF-worthy TD reception for former Bears and current Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery. Philly grabs a 9-3 lead. #superbowl pic.twitter.com/fz6UJhObOQ

Jeffery has long been a go-up-and-get-it guy — something the Bears offense missed in 2017 — and he did just that in hauling in a big throw from Nick Foles. The big-play strike gave the Eagles a 9-3 lead in the first quarter. Jake Elliott, who opened the scoring with a field goal, missed the extra point.
Making a bold prediction is one thing. Scoring a touchdown in the game to give your team a lead against the defending Super Bowl champs is on another level.
