Sveum is busting out the whacky lineup today. Lots of subs before an off-day, which I kind of like. Give them two days of mostly rest.

Ask me again if I still feel that way come the 8th inning.

I'm a little surprised Castro didn't get the day off. My biggest complaint with Quade last year is tat he kept running out a 20 yr old everyday. Give the kid some rest and time to practice his throws.

Did I mention how much I loathe Comcast? I get Comcast networks from Atlanta, Texas, New York, Philadelphia and others, but no Chicago. No matter how much I complain, there's not enough incentive for them to offer the channel here. So I am screwed. I will watch vicariously through you guys today, so keep the language colorful and descriptive.

I agree Goat, I think Barney and Castro both need more days off. I think Svuem is smart enough to see that eventually.

Chicago Cubs Lineup

1. Reed Johnson, RF
2. Blake DeWitt, 2B
3. Starlin Castro, SS
4. Jeff Baker, 1B
5. Ian Stewart, 3B
6. Joe Mather, LF
7. Geovany Soto,C
8. Marlon Byrd, CF
9. Paul Maholm, P

what i find interesting about this lineup, is that the 2 guys struggling the most ( byrd, soto) are in it and batting 7th and 8th..

I dunno where else you'd play them, and while I understand wanting them to sit, I don't think they should (yet). As I said on the main site, you can't bench them after only 9 games. Maybe they get a hit or two today...

...or Maholm does.

I came here to ask why you would run out all the subs on the same day instead of trickling them in every other day or so ... but I guess the two days of rest thing makes sense.

This way LaHair (back) and the other get two days of rest with only missing one game

All I've got is the radio broadcast today. Houston just doesn't carry enough Cubs games for me, ha.

Let's hope Maholm does better this time 'round.
