We all already know that the St. Louis Cardinals are the single greatest team in the history of all sports, ever, but now the state of Missouri hopes to make it official.
Missouri House Representative Courtney Allen Curtis has sponsored a bill to name the St. Louis Cardinals the official baseball team in the state of Missouri (you know, the state that’s home to the 2015 World Champion Kansas City Royals).
Here’s a bit from the bill (courtesy of NBC Sports):
Section A. Chapter 10, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 10.210, to read as follows:
10.210. The St. Louis Cardinals, which can trace its history in Missouri back to 1882, are selected for and shall be known as the official baseball team of the state of Missouri.
If passed, the bill would go into effect at the end of August – hopefully just after the Cardinals have been mathematically eliminated from any post season contention…
…What? I’m a Cubs fan, what did you expect?
