Sadly, I'm going to guess "cover the shame." It seems a bit early to be this pessimistic, but it is what it is I suppose. We are all gluttons for punishment. But it's a Friday afternoon, and the game is on nationally. We can watch or follow online, and then go get drunk in celebration or to cover over the shame.

Competitive games haven't really been the problem near as much as finding a way not to piss those games down their respective legs... Sadly, after so many of those "Oh, but we were so close... we almost won" games, I'm half hoping that if they don't win, they just get the shit kicked out of them so I can use the "drowining my sorrows" excuse for getting wasted on a Friday afternoon! Here's hoping for a W today. If we can't get that, at least a competitive game!
Go, Cubs!

And 5 bombs!
I'm really looking forward to the LaHair, Soriano, Stewart configuration. I think it could give us a boost in run production. But, after saying that, they're now bound to combine for 7 Ks today.
I sure hope you're right. I don't even need HRs, just a few doubles would make me happy. Anything to get our Slugging numbers up to a respectable level.

I guess that's what it is...they never feel beaten by the competition, rather they find ways to beat themselves. Maybe that's just the signs of how shitty this team really is, ha. Either way, when watching them, I feel SO defeated the minute the other team gets a lead because I know that (more than likely) that's it, they're done for the day. There's never a time where it feels like we've got something going offensively or there's never a time where I feel the pen will actually do something productive. It's all just so "blah."Competitive games haven't really been the problem near as much as finding a way not to piss those games down their respective legs... Sadly, you hit the nail on the head about feeling defeated when the other team grabs the lead, and our inability to hold one...I guess that's what it is...they never feel beaten by the competition, rather they find ways to beat themselves. On another note, here in Omaha they always play this stupid jingle before the game and inbetween innings that ends "this is our year." Do that do that same shit in Chicago? For crying out loud, this is NOT our year... unless of course they mean our year to break the 104 loss mark.
All I know is that I want to break my damn radio listening to this team suck horribly and having to hear "this is our year" every 15 minutes!

Byrd is so great,
I am so glad
that Dale bats him 8.
His average is under .100
but I'm sure for not long
Today Byrd will hit for the cycle,
including his first dong.
Joe Mather is not good
and should stay on the pine,
just because he had the best spring training out of anyone else on the team does not mean that he should get the chance to play for a player that is hitting .070 and bitches about playing day games while playing for a team that he doesn't give a shit about.
