Allen Robinson is Ready (And If We’re Being Totally Honest So Am I!) and Other Bullets

Need some Monday motivation? Look no further than Allen Robinson, who looks ready to get back to work:

  • We’re at a point in the offseason where there isn’t much hard news to pick up and analyze. So seeing Robinson preparing to put in work weeks before training camp catches my eye. Robinson has been a workout warrior as he has hit the recovery trail after his season-ending ACL injury. It should go without saying that Robinson is going to be a key member of the Bears’ offense, so getting him at full strength when training camp is a high priority.
  • Earlier, we made note that Robinson was the team’s highest-rated offensive player in the upcoming Madden NFL video game. The Bears didn’t have a receiver who earned an overall grade of 80 or better last season, which is one way to look at how lackluster that particular group was in 2017. They also didn’t have a receiver catch more than 59 passes last season, and that number figures to be surpassed … by a running back in 2018. Go figure.
  • Anthony Miller absolutely slays:
  • Do you think a better catch rule would help the Bears’ offense in 2018? Well, maybe. Over at SBNation, Christian D’Andrea navigates an alternate historical timeline where five of the league’s most controversial non-catches had been ruled as complete. That includes Zach Miller’s amazing grab that came despite it coming as he sustained a gruesome injury. I don’t find myself dabbling into “what-if” scenarios often, but Adam Stites’ angle makes me wonder how much could have been different had this touchdown stood as originally called.
  • Brandon Marshall caught 31 touchdown passes in three season with the Bears, but 17 scores in three seasons since. Marshall hopes to turn it around with the Seattle Seahawks in 2018, and the team expects him to be a full-go when training camp rolls around. Marshall missed 10 games last season as he battled an ankle injury and had toe surgery last season, but Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll told Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times that the free agent addition is also recovering from a hamstring injury. Seattle kept Marshall out of mandatory minicamp due to the hamstring issue.
  • Elsewhere in the world of receivers, Detroit’s Golden Tate sees teammate Kenny Golladay as someone who can be a top-flight pass-catcher. “I saw freakish catches, man. Some real freakin’ freakish catches,” Tate told MLive.com. “Kenny’s still a young guy trying to figure it out, but he’s moving at a great pace. If he can just keep the mentality he has coming in, he studies, and just tries to get better everyday, I’m telling you, this guy can be dominant. He’s a WR1 kind of guy.” Golladay played his college ball at Northern Illinois and had a solid rookie season, catching 28 passes for 477 yards, and three touchdowns. He certainly has the size and skills to be an impact receiver, and is someone defenses should keep an eye on when trying to slow down Matthew Stafford and Detroit’s offense.
  • The Vikings are inducting former head coach Dennis Green into the team’s Ring of Honor. Even though Green is most known around these parts for the “They Are Who We Thought They Were” postgame rant, he was a part of Bears lore long before that as he coached the Vikings from 1992 through 2002 and posted a 101-70 record. His time with the team included eight postseason trips, four division championships, and a pair of appearances in the NFC title game. Green passed away in 2016.
  • Elsewhere in the land of the Vikings, this seems like a neat honor:
