Am I disturbed for being excited about seeing Wood today?

(That leaves the door open for some jokes. Let me rephrase.)

Is it weird that I'm kind of perversely glad Garza is missing a start so we get to see what Travis Wood looks like right now?

If there's any justice in this world, Travis Wood should throw 7 innings of no-run, two-hit ball, as SOOOOOO many other recent no-name call-ups have done to us over the years.

Of course, if he did have a game like that, we'd most likely end up losing in extras...

I'm going to be taking my family to the San Jose Giants (SF's single-A team) game this afternoon. We'll be joined by two recently immigrated British families who claim to be really excited to learn about baseball. This is either going to be maddening or tremendously fun. We'll see. I've never been to a minor league game before.

So long as the Ricketts Family has a massive stake in Comcast Sportsnet Chicago, it's going to have a stranglehold on Cubs broadcasting.

Still in a delay, by the way. Heavy rains now expected in the next 10 minutes.

Thanks for the update, Brett. Anybody in the Chicago area (or in the know) got another update on whether or not this thing is happening today?

I love that Tony Campana threw his bat on a strike right down the middle like it was a ball.

But I REALLY love that a lazy single just became a double. He's so freaking fast.

I like the attempted steal of third by Campana with one out. Just a bad jump.

Campy actually hit the ball out of the infield. Caught stealing third.

Cub killer Jerry Hairston gets an infield hit, but blows up his hamstring in the process. Out of the game.
