Eh. I'm sure Sveum sold it as just a day off.I think the 8-spot is perfect for Cardenas at this point and time. By the way he was talking about being in Wrigley for the first time...I don't think he needs any additional pressure. If he can continue to produce like he was at Iowa, we might have one of the better 8-hitters in the NL.
Barney has got to be fuming right now. Yikes.

He may have tried, but I can assure you that Barney did not purchase.Eh. I'm sure Sveum sold it as just a day off.

Either way, I'm glad it's on TV tonight so I can watch! A series win would be SVEET!

I think this is the new era of accountability. And it means getting shown the back door is a reality--players better face it. If they can face it and succeed they're the kind of player we want. If they can't, then I'm sorry if I really like you but it means we're looking for your replacement. Good luck. That's the way it is.
Also, I don't mind Cardenas batting 8th in this particular case because he's already said he's overwhelmed, and Dempster is a good bunter. That's probably a good way to let Adrian get comfortable and still utilize his offensive skills. I wouldn't mind seeing people on-base ahead of him, either.

No shit, right? Fume all you want, kid. You ain't cutting it right now.If Barney was fuming, then he should hit better so that Sveum couldn't take him out of the lineup.
Actually, for the lineup, I'd move Cardenas to second in the order, move Campana 9th, and move Dempster up to 8th.

I was thinking the same thing. I feel a little dirty knowing that this lineup strategy came from LaRussa though.
