I have a confession to make: I do not watch Game of Thrones.
Making that my first sentence here at Bleacher Nation may seem risky, but see how open I’m choosing to be with all of you right off that bat!? That’s worth something, right? And while I may not understand the exact significance of the Iron Throne, I do understand how important and emotional a good ending can be. And since last night was such a big deal for all you Throne-iacs (is that a thing?), I want to wish you well through this period of mourning.
Oh, by the way: Hi! My name is Elias and I’ll be covering the Chicago Bulls here at Bleacher Nation. Here’s my first set of bullets! Woo!
An obvious need is waiting to be filled at the point guard position for Chicago, and The Chicago Tribune’s K.C. Johnson reported that the Bulls are “intrigued” by the skill set of third-year Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball. According to Johnson, the Bulls could be in a good position to facilitate a three-team trade with the Lakers and Pelicans, one that would send Ball to Chicago and Anthony Davis to the Lakers.
Now, like him or not, Ball’s natural presence on the court is a clear fit for what the Bulls are looking for. With Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen expected to carry a bulk of your scoring, the Bulls are in a situation where they’re looking for a facilitator. His pass-first approach fits effortlessly onto the roster, and his addition would add another young, talented piece to the core. However, he certainly does not bring that desired veteran presence into the locker room. And after a couple of seasons sprinkled with injury trouble, we still do not exactly know what he can become. At the end of the day, the question becomes whether trading for Ball (or others) is all that better than drafting and molding your own guy. Oh, not to mention all the drama that comes with his father… *shivers.* We’ll have more on that as the story develops, no doubt.
The Bulls were definitely a topic of conversation these last couple days at the NBA combine. With the No. 7 pick in the hands of Chicago yet again, the team will be considering quite a few options as the draft nears. Sam Smith with NBA.com discusses several high-profile options:
The NBA came to Chicago this week, left a No. 7 draft pick and a bunch of questions still to be considered. https://t.co/2oIfUc8Tw6
But now, you can head out onto your balcony or sidewalk and spray that bubbly about! It’s time to rewatch Scottie Pippen absolutely destroy Patrick Ewing during Game 6 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. He even steps over the man and then taunts Spike Lee… my goodness.
