Who else was available on the bench?

Cardenas, who else?

Baker, Mather, both better options in my opinion.

I just don't get the love affair with Reed "My bat is really slow now" Johnson. He cannot catch up to good fastballs, let alone ones that range into elite. He should be the LAST option in the 8th/9th when hard throwers tend to be on the mound.

Mather has shown a few times he can hit anyone's fastball (struggles with offspeed). He should be your #1 PH option against closers.

Umps are a great example of why unions suck. Can't fire or impose stiff penalties for being shitty at your job. My god what a horrible call.

it sounds like you do not watch the news or are aware of the Brett Lawrie situation?

What's that got to do with my comment?

unions don't suck and an umpire was punished this week

Umpires being punished and unions sucking are not part of the same conversation. And unions most certainly do suck.

you guys obviously arent fucked by your employer at every possible opportunity. you know why? unions. im not saying unions are perfect but they dont suck any more than the corporations that made them a necessity.

I agree, Baker and Mather are both excellent fastball hitters. I am still very pissed about the DeJesus play at second, and having Reed Johnson up with the game on the line again didn't help.

75% of union jobs in this country are now related to the public sector. Nice try, though.

The DeJesus play is just...ugh...inexcusable.
