Demp to me is not worth 12MM next year. Rather get a bat.
I may be wrong but I think you can't trade for a draft pick.
Heard people say a bull pen arm and low level prospect. I prefer 2bagger who can hit in the back of the order.
So, let's say Demp actually waives his no trade. What do you guys think we get back from him in the current market?

Agreed...I'd rather try to get McLeod an extra draft pick to work with than another future possible bullpen option.
No...but if the Cubs make him the qualifying arbitration option and he still signs somewhere else, then the Cubs would get a compensation pick. And I'd rather try that than trade him for a minor league reliever.
But you are correct about not being able to trade for a draft pick.
I wouldn't be thrilled about it either...but I'd rather take a shot at getting the compensation pick over trading him for a bullpen option, which is what the original pos suggested. I'd love to get a bat for him too, but I don't think anyone is giving up a decent bat for a half season rental. Especially since with the new CBA, the team acquiring him wouldn't be able to get the compensation pick.
