Appel to Washington by rumor. Mets and Blue Jays I think are also in play.

This is hilarious. I love all these pitchers going above Boras' client. Fuck you, Boras. Take the hint.

Just for the record I did edit my post to include the Mets before I read your post. Never thought about the Jays but that makes a lot of sense if they are really wanting to be competitive in the Al East.

Almora looks a bit like James Franco...that's definitely a plus tool.
And that's a bad miss...

I never thought the Pirates would take Appel. Huge surprise.

Yeah...Luke: Where is our next pick and what are we looking to do with it?

I have heard the "take impact guys" motto, but what does that mean afayk?
And that's a bad miss...

I'd expect the Cubs to be closely watching high ceiling, unpolished high school pitching. If they can get a couple of guys who throw in the mid 90s, have one good pitch and two more pitches that could be good with work, I think they'll be pretty happy with their day.

Isn't Scott Boras also Almora's "advisor"?

Sure would be nice to build our bullpen from the minors in the future...seems like the model that works for a lot of teams with consistently good bullpens.
And that's a bad miss...

Cubs have the arms on the farm now to build some pretty good bullpens in the near future.
