Cubs Fact:

The Cubs opened the 2000 season in Tokyo, marking the first regular season games Major League Baseball has ever held outside of North America.

Just to go on record, I disagree with this whole practice. If you want to market your product overseas, fine. Do it with exhibitions. I'm sure there is some sacred marketing report offering incontrovertible evidence that "regular season" games are better for marketing, but (Stamps foot) I DON'T LIKE IT!!

They have not done it again since, and now that you have put your Stinky foot down, I doubt they will ever consider it again.

Um, they did it this year. Without looking it up I believe Oakland and Seattle were the team that went over this year (then came back for one more week of spring training). Yeah, it is pretty ridiculous.

Didn't a couple of teams open in Mexico City back 5, 6 years ago? Or is my brain creating new things again?

That was just an exhibiton between Hack Wilson and Dick Tidrow. Tidrow struck him out three times, than sat down and drained a bottle of mescal. The worm never had a chance.
