#57893 A Mini-Manifesto on Baseball and your Life

Posted by Diesel on 25 January 2014 - 10:53 AM

Baseball is one of the greatest things I can think of in my life outside of my family and friends.  One of the great things I cherish about baseball is how much it brings my family, friends, and myself together in a way that nothing else does.  Holidays, birthdays, weddings, nothing else even comes close.

Provided I can get the day off, for the third year in a row, I plan on taking my nephew to a Sacramento River Cats game on father's day.  His father never has been in his life and my sister, and his mother, passed away in 2008.  We enjoy the game and the time out in the sun.  Granted I take him to about every baseball game I can but the father's day game is special to us.  After the game we get to go out onto the field and play catch.  My girlfriend describes it as watching two kids out there despite my age.  While all the fathers are trying to have fun and some are trying to teach a little more about how to throw, my nephew and I are diving all over the place when a throw gets away both hoping to go home with some grass stains from the field on our clothes.  We have such a bond and it has so much to do with baseball.  This year's game will be extra special as the Iowa Cubs will be the opponents this year.

Please never forget the joy that baseball brings you.  It is something that can not be matched.

Maybe when they sewed Hill's fingers back on they could have done it in a way that he could hold a bat and get a hit.

Hit holiday with a fastball to the face in retaliation for that one.
