#58388 How to help TeamFUMS and My MS Story

Posted by Cubbie Blues on 17 March 2014 - 09:53 PM

It dosent take your photo or a name for us to know who you are. We already know who you are, a great family guy who loves the Cubs and loves life (and might enjoy a hops filled beverage). A guy who won't back down from a fight, be it an asshole on a blog or a life changing ailment. We are here for you with hopes and prayers that a cure will be found.

Upland is coming to Chicago:

Damn. Estaré ocupado. From the write-up, I bet they're bringing one or more lambics.

I'm sure they are. They just finished brewing a few small batches. And damn you for making me translate that.

They are going to be permanitely on tap at River North with their Wheat and Dragon Fly IPA plus a rotating seasonal starting with Infinite Wisdom Tripel and Upland Harvest Ale. The Harvest is yummy, I had it last weekend when they had a tapping party. It's a pale ale that is dry hopped with citra hops.

I like FG better than B-R. To each their own. I know Hansman prefers B-R. I actually prefer the green to B-R as well.

I'm pretty sure I would rather have Detroit's production from there though.

I guess Murphy doesn't know who Latos is. 2 for 3.

Anyone know where I can pull stats for the team's production from a given position?  It's amazing the production the Cubs have got out of third base from Ransom/Valbuena/Murphy, given that none of them would even likely be getting many ABs at 3rd on a good number of teams.
Here you go.

He's not expendable, he's just more of a bench player.

#52001 Who is the face of the Cubs franchise?

Posted by Cubbie Blues on 30 July 2013 - 06:49 PM

You know, if no one steps up to claim the mantle, I'm more than willing to.
Just sayin'.

That is a little bit ambitious for a 41st round pick, don't you think?
You don't dress for the job you have.

My wife doesn't listen to very much Cubs news, but for some reason, every time Theo is interviewed she stops everything she's doing and watches.

I'm not sure I have friended anyone but I like going through all of my posts that have been "liked", interesting to see what trips folks' triggers.

Too bad nobody else can see them anymore.

As best we can tell, the Cubs tried for Darvish.  That ridiculous single bid, blind auction process sunk 'em.

This.  I think Kim Jong IL invented the whole ridiculous posting process.

It was right after he scored an 18 in his round of golf.

You people have no taste.

The Natty Ice I drink strenuously objects.

The Natty Ice you drink strenuously confirms it.

He's the one person that goes to Wrigley and actually upgrades from what he normally drinks.

#49293 Women in Baseball?

Posted by Cubbie Blues on 03 July 2013 - 10:51 AM

Women’s suffrage with regard to the All-Star Game was achieved gradually, team by team, during the late 20th and early 21st century, culminating in 2004 with the passage of the Susan B. “Eric” Anthony Amendment to the Major League Baseball Bylaws, which provided: “The right of live game attendees and Internet users to stuff ballot boxes with their biased selections for the All-Star Game shall not be denied or abridged on account of sex, even if the woman is just voting for the players with the nicest smiles and has no idea what the infield fly rule is.”

The fight began in 1987, when Marge Schott, president and CEO of the Cincinnati Reds, agreed to allow women (and dogs) the right to vote in exchange for the elimination of voting rights for African-Americans, Jews, gay people, anyone with facial hair, and unmarried couples living in sin.  After Barry Larkin and Eric Davis were elected to the 1989 All-Star Team, Schott immediately abandoned the women-can-vote experiment and decided to build a time machine and move to 1930s Germany, where she died.

#48805 Samardzija is an Ace (le sigh)

Posted by Cubbie Blues on 26 June 2013 - 06:06 AM

Being called a #2 is not a knock on him at all. Most people look at being called an Ace as something very special and feel their are only 8-10 in the game at a time. He is 10th in xFIP (3.07), 16th in FIP (3.03) 8th in K/9 (9.73), 14th in LOB% (72.4), 14th in WAR (2.5) and 13th in IP (106.1). All of those numbers are right on the cusp of being an Ace and why there is a debate about it, but they just don't reach that 8-10th best pitcher level that most are looking for. He has the potential of being an Ace. He just isn't there yet. Again, being a top #2 isn't a knock on him whatsoever and he would the best pitcher on a lot of teams. He just isn't a true Ace yet.
