#8440 'The Sagan Series

Posted by TWC on 23 February 2012 - 09:39 PM

Carl Sagan is (was… *sniff*) an incredible human being. Cosmos knocked me out as a kid. I'm excited that they're rebooting the series with the so-very-awesome Neil deGrasse Tyson. I'm slightly less excited that it's going to be on Fox, rather than PBS.

"… and this is a wormhole, much like the one that Barack Obama used to go back in time to fake his birth certificate…"

BN Gang: YEAH!
Crockett: I say we hang him, then we kill him!
BN Gang: YEAH!
Crockett: I say we stomp him!
BN Gang: YEAH!
Crockett: Then we tattoo him!
BN Gang: YEAH!
Crockett: Then we hang him!
BN Gang: YEAH!!
Crockett: And then we kill him!
BN Gang: YEAH!!!
Bud Selig: [tries to throw his voice without moving his lips] I say we let him go.
BN Gang: NO!!!

#7773 Another Minor Reason to be Excited About 2012-John Gaub

Posted by TWC on 14 February 2012 - 11:18 PM

I've always thought that John Gaub was the type of dude that some other team's fan blog is going to rave about (as the 'prize' of the deal) when the Cubs end up including him on a mid-season trade. But, hey, you know how those fan blogs are…

Remeber when many Cub fans went ape-shit when Hendry traded Mark DeRosa?

I love hearing people bitch about trading DeRosa. Freaking LOVE it. 'Cause I know right away they have no idea what they're talking about.

#7770 Who are all these "guests"?

Posted by TWC on 14 February 2012 - 11:08 PM

One of them is, without a shadow of a doubt, Dick Tidrow.

When Dick Tidrow comes over for dinner, *you're* the guest.

#7742 Slow to load

Posted by TWC on 14 February 2012 - 01:51 PM

Maybe. Thought the host is in California, so, in that regard, yours should be the zippiest of all.

So next time your servers take a dump, you want me to hop over the hill, down into the valley, and shake some shit up? Kick some asses? Or can I just stay in my humble beach community?

How far can you throw?

Farther than Campana.

#7387 Tucker and Dale VS Evil

My wife and I watched this over the weekend. Really funny. A little slow in parts, but highly enjoyable. I'd give it two thumbs up, but I only have 1-1/2 thumbs.

#7011 Things you hate that everyone else likes

Posted by TWC on 03 February 2012 - 05:30 PM

Hey Rickey by fancy beer are you saying beer that has taste or stuff that's like $100 a bottle?

By fancy beer I mean anything over $1 a can. Even if I were a billionaire, I'd still be drinking the cheap stuff.

At Wrigley "The cheap stuff" is $7 a cup.
Do you still like it since it's "The cheap beer" flavor or do you hate it since it's more than $1?

A real man brings his own beer.

You misspelled "hip flask". HTH.

#6886 How would YOU make BN better?

Posted by TWC on 01 February 2012 - 10:32 AM

Also: free beer.

When it comes to A+ movies, anything with Hugh Grant qualifies, in my book. He's charming.

#5790 Epstein Trade?

Posted by TWC on 10 January 2012 - 12:44 AM

No way Epstein comes to the Cubs. No way.

Tommy, baby, post *then* drink. Not the other way around, m'kay?

#5761 Cubs Calendar 1/9/12 - Poetry

Also in January 9th news -- and bear with me while we take a ride on the BleacherNation Wayback Machine -- in 2010 it was Bryan LaHair day!

Bryan LaHair is a Chicago Cub

I love, love, love, the first comment on that article. And Ace's response.

#5546 If You Are Upset About the Big Z Deal.....remember

Posted by TWC on 04 January 2012 - 09:42 PM

But WAAAAAAAAH!!! Ticket prices!!! Theo's over his head!! WAAAAAH! Ticket prices! Forty wins if we're lucky! WAAAAAH! Ticket prices!!!

*sigh*

Shrug.

Whatevs. Like I posted on the front page (yeah, I was actually active out front today!), at worst, it's a net-zero move by the Cubs. At best, we've got a young pitcher who's a couple of couple of corrections away from his first-round promise, cost controlled for three years.
