#46497 Is this the most important draft pick ever?

Posted by King Jeff on 29 May 2013 - 06:59 AM

I hope we get Karsten Whitson with the #32 pick. I think that this year's and next year's entire draft class's successes are critical.

That would be amazing since the Yankees have the 32nd pick.

#45888 7 moves the Cubs can make to win a 2014 World Series

Yeah, give 31 year old Robinson Cano a 9 year/225 million dollar deal, that always works out well.  Almost as well as almost completely emptying the farm and holding KC up at gun point to get one of their best pitching prospects and a supplemental draft pick, and pushing Soler and Bryant into roles on  a world series contender before they are going to be ready.   Also, I'd rather have Castillo catching in the future than Saltalamacchia and have seen very little out of the current bullpen that leads me to believe that Fujikawa and Russell teamed with a bunch of rookies is going to be a world series caliber pen.

I do like Scherzer, and would very much like to see him come to Wrigley, but I have this ominous feeling about free agent pitchers that says that none of the guys you listed will even reach the market.  Kershaw is going to get whatever he wants from LA, and Detroit's owner will keep putting up the money if his team is contending.  We might get to see one of Cincinatti's starters on the market considering their payroll limitations, but Jocketty is smart, so he will probably trade them before he loses them to FA.

Ian Kinsler with the slide of the year.

#44249 Barney to SS?

Oh, yikes, my bad.

Wasn't complaining or anything, just answering.  It was a pretty common topic for a long time last season.

#43801 Ian Stewart's Twitter habits.

Posted by King Jeff on 28 April 2013 - 07:16 PM

With the way he's swinging the, bat in the PCL, it seems he needs to work harder to get some semblance of a bat, and stop tweeting in the wee hours if he wants to get out of Iowa so bad.  If he keeps this up, Josh Vitters will be playing 3b in Chicago before Stewart.  I can't see how anyone has legitimate hope that this guy is going to figure it out and become an asset for the Cubs.

I used to believe that we had a shot at getting something close to 2008-2010 Ian Stewart but if he so depserately wants to sit at home watching WWE while tweeting until all hours of the morning and he thinks Colorado screwed him over and wants to be back there...

#43400 The real tragic part about Soriano

Posted by King Jeff on 24 April 2013 - 03:36 PM

"you have two of our worst players eating up 30% of the team payroll"

I will concede Marmol as one of the worst players, but no way should anyone consider Soriano in the same league.  I understand that he's getting paid much more than he is worth, but he is easily one of the best players on the team.  He was in a bad situation today, but he is 6 for 17 in late game, close situations this year.

#41835 BNFL Week Two Review - Its Just A Small Sample Size, Everything's Going t...

The only question on my team is; Did Roy Halladay just turn a corner, or did he turn a corner, just because he faced the Marlins.

I lost quite a few games due to rainouts, but didn't suffer because of my starters.  I'll have to make note of all of the guys who will be playing a few doubleheaders in late May/early June.

Apologies to Edgar, had to beat him in two different leagues in the same week.  B)

Heck, you could leave Marmol in at this point.

I reported you for this comment, probably will get in trouble, but that was just ridiculous to say.

You have over 100 warning points, you just can't see them.

Oooo, double secret warning points...

How many did I get for the Women in Baseball thread?

That's where most of them came from. Mostly for violations of the Human-Hamburger relations act of 2013.

I would rather have(Something else to talk about) than Carlos Marmol as closer. And #2: You can trust (the sky is falling after 6 games) more than Carlos Marmol closing the 9th inning

At what point do we quit blaming Marmol, and start blaming the guys that keep putting him out there in game deciding situations.
