The Royals mainly just want a top-line starting pitcher. If the Cubs have any chance of landing Myers, Samardzija or, most likely, Garza would be headed to Kansas City.

The answer to 1 and 2 are Ricky Guttierez and Moises Alou, which leaves Scott Servais to be the answer to 3.

In Topic: Daniel Hudson

19 October 2012 - 06:07 PM

I would say that his performance this past year is largely due to injury. A pitcher's hit rate doesn't just spike like that, especially when his other peripherals are relatively in line with his past performance. He should be fine once he's healthy again.

I think any additional players included in a trade wouldn't be anything major, considering how many years of control the Cubs would have on Hudson. I think we would certainly reclaim what was lost in Archer and Lee as long as Hudson comes close to his performance in 2011.

In Topic: Marmol to Angels?

they did away with that with the new CBA

Yes, and no. They can still offer him the MLB avg of contracts, or whatever it is. That's ~12.5 million this year, and likely higher next year, hence why I say it's a long shot. But no reason not to bring it up in talks.

Also, keep in mind: If Marmol returns to his dominant form (as we are starting to see a possible glimpse of), the Angels could possibly offer him arbitration and get a draft pick. I know it's highly unlikely, but I think it should definitely be brought up in any possible trade talks in order to enhance the return.
