Dichotomy of the day

27 January 2014 - 03:17 PM

Just doing an informal quick glance, I think I'm noticing something that strikes me as a bit odd.

The people who are more likely to put more value in traditional statistics (BA, W-L etc.) also seem to be more likely to suggest the Cubs should leave Wrigley field, and the people who prefer more modern statistical interpretations seem to see the Cubs as uniquely entwined with the ivy-covered Friendly Confines.

It seems on the surface like a tug between modernization and tradition that exists in all of us, but I think deep down it's pretty logical.

Am I wrong?

Quickly becoming the most annoying post:

"Any word from Assman?"

If you're looking for "word from Assman" then just look for it.

Perhaps I should just go and post "Any word from Doc?" "Any word from Kyle?"

"Does anybody know if Brett has posted any bullets today?"

"Can somebody tell me where my keys are?"

Mariners Talk!

06 December 2013 - 01:25 PM

As a Seattlelite I'm kind of digging all the Mariners talk the last couple of days.

The M's have to go nuts now, don't they?

Here's what they could (if they went bonkers) do:

1: Trade some combination of Nick Franklin/Edwin Diaz/Dustin Ackley/Steven Pryor to Cubs for Samardzija +

2: Sign Sin-Shoo Choo for 5/85

3: Sign Mike Napoli for 3/45

4: Sign Beltran for 3/45

Puts their payroll around $150MM

Choo - RF

Miller - SS

Cano - 2B

Napoli - 1B/DH

Beltran - LF

Smoak - 1B/DH

Seager - 3B

Zunino - C

Saunders - CF
