#49162 Cubs Non-Calendar - 7/1 - That's Alotta Players

Posted by hansman1982 on 01 July 2013 - 12:48 PM

1966. hahaha... "The Cubs will shoot from the hip, with Leo the Lip." Ernie's Cubs slogan that year.

Lot's of time for 2013 to still claim the #1 spot. Will surely be top 10.

I don't want anybody's lips whose name is Leo anywhere near my hips.

: :lol::

You wanna really piss him off...do this:

Great. dammnit. I asked, "not even for a World Series?". Timing.

For a World Series?  Anything.

I'm guessing 2nd.

And 2011 was 15th.

FWIW, 2013 is 32nd.

We should have a competition to see who can guess where 2013 will rank at the end of the year....

I'm saying 3rd.

I'm just quoting another one to piss Spriggs off.

#48746 Series She-View: Cubs v. Brewers, June 25 - June 27

I was thinking the same thing but was beat off the starting blocks.

Hooray! Brett is never going to do the She View again!!!!!!!!

#48679 NBA Season Is Over

Posted by hansman1982 on 23 June 2013 - 11:09 PM

Was the NBA always this bad? I remember Bulls/Celtics games that were full of passion. Fans and more importantly, players cared.

Some of my favorite matchups in the 70's were between the Cavs and the Celtics, oddly. They always gave us a good game.

Or was I just young?

Sometimes I wonder the same thing.  I remember the '98 Eastern Conference Finals between Indiana and Chicago, and I know there was more going on than dunks, threes, flops, showboating, and crying to the refs.  Sometimes I still wonder what would have happened if Game 7 had been on a neutral floor.

At least the college game is still worth watching.  Except for the major programs, anyway.  They look exactly like the NBA half the time.

Give me more games like Butler v Gonzaga and I'll be a happy Hoosier.

I know he doesn't care; however, Lebron would be much more popular if every non-scoring play didn't end with him whining to the refs.

#48212 Cubs Calendar - 6/17 - Instrumental Family Fun

Posted by hansman1982 on 17 June 2013 - 10:36 AM

Oh. My lack of knowledge on musical instrument classifications was bound to show up sooner or later. I give. Wait. Tuba?

No, and at this point, most people who would guess have viewed this post.

Flugelhorn

Yes, when people describe me, the first word out of their mouth is "prick".  Jackass.

I thought it was "hamburgers" ?

It usually goes:

Joe? Prick can't even stop eating hamburgers long enough to form a coherent thought.

#48089 What's up with Castro?

Posted by hansman1982 on 14 June 2013 - 09:06 PM

Blah blah blah (real answer)

Rob deer and his .197 batting agerage is one of the hitting coaches.
They haven't yet built the Jumbotron and Castro adjusted thinking they would have built it
It's part of Theos plan to get Castro's contract voided so they can pay him less.
Castro's got baby momma drama that he's bringing on the field

#47919 Potential Closer?

Must be related to Sampson.

The Bible one or the Half Baked one?

#47907 Reds v. Cubs - June 13, 2013 (TV: CSN)

Shin Soo Choo can eat a hot bowl of dicks...

What if he already does and that makes him as good as he is?

#47758 Did I hear Theo right?

Posted by hansman1982 on 12 June 2013 - 08:26 AM

So, if Matt Carpenter doesn't count... Cubs third basemen are the most productive in the NL right now? Using the right stats, of course..

If someone would have told you that to start the year, your reaction would have been......???

wOBA correlates VERY well with runs scored (on a team basis over the past 10 years) but, ya, I'm sure there is a stat out there that says Barney is good at hitt...er, probably not.

Before Ian Stewart got Ian Stewarted, I would have believed you.  After he did, not so much.

I wasn't trying to discount wOBA, I really like that stat. I just added that because I knew there'd be somebody to throw out some other stat and act as if I was stupid for assuming the platoon was the best 3B combo in the bigs.

It's all good, I was kind of backing up our liking of wOBA.

#47413 ON THE SUBJECT OF TRADE IDEAS....

Posted by hansman1982 on 07 June 2013 - 11:00 AM

just trying to build BN...would like to see this blog continue to grow as the place where the smartest Cubs' fans congregate...

Oh, I think it is...just there are a lot of dumbasses and 1 guy who really sucks at giving trivia answers.

#46253 Series She-View: Cubs v. Reds, May 24 - May 26

I'm sorry guys, apparently I pissed off the baseball gods with my she-view.  I will never do one again.

#45921 Series She-View: May 21 - May 23, Cubs @ Pirates

Posted by hansman1982 on 20 May 2013 - 01:59 PM

Ok, so Brett has failed in the She-View.  He is 5-6-2 on the season with 3 losing sweeps under his belt.  We appreciate his time of service with the She-View but it is time to move on.  Blah blah blah, what in the heck am I doing typing this out, you aren't reading this anyway and just fast-forwarding to the "hot" chicks.  Oh ya, this way it feels like I am adding some artistic flavor to this and not just posting pictures of half-naked chicks.

In this corner, representing YOUR Chicago Cubs, Kaley Cuoco:

and the Pittsburgh Pirates representative, Kaley Cuoco:

I'm predicting a 4-game sweep.

#45660 A Response to Brett's Marmol Response...Why BN is Successful

Posted by hansman1982 on 16 May 2013 - 11:59 AM

how often agents or others use writers to get (perhaps false) stories out, apply pressure, move a negotiating line, float an idea, 'run something up the flagpole' without getting their own fingerprints on it.

I wonder, did the guy who errorneously broke the "CUBS SIGN ANIBAL SANCHEZ" story issue a written apology?

#45044 Cardinals v. Cubs - May 8, 2013 (TV: CSN)

That is all.

Oh, man, I really love that cheesesteak I just ate, too.  So, so good.

I don't know why but that makes me really hungry for a gyro.

Next time you're in town, Joe, I'll take you over to the cheesesteak place.  My treat.

Next time you're in town, I'll take you to the Gyro place.  Not sure if it's good, but I love em.

Oh, your treat.

For reals, that sounds great.  I'll take you up on that, when it happens.

#43756 Series She-View: Cubs v. Marlins, April 25 - April 28

Posted by hansman1982 on 27 April 2013 - 11:01 PM

I keep forgetting to do beerviews!

For the Marlins I'm going to go with Miami resident (and obnoxious sports fan) Jimmy Buffet's Land Shark lager.  It has two things related to the Marlins: they're both fish and they're both complete utter shit.

How dare you besmirch the name of jimmy Buffett without using stronger language and bringing his music into it.
