In Topic: Roster, Lineup and Rotation if 4 trades are done.

I like it better than this year's roster, but still a number of question marks. Can Morales come back? Can Colvin hit at all? Can one of the young catchers handle the job? Will Lackey rebound? Is Neil Ramirez ready?

And, of course ... no Barney!

There is only som much you can do in a year. Lol

I like all of them. Thoughts:

(1) That's quite a haul for Garza and a couple relief prospects. I know people would hate it, but if the Cubs could get that much back (look up the kids if you haven't heard of them), they really should think about it.

(2) Seems like a good risk to me.

(3) Love it, but it seems like the Cubs would have to kick in some dough. Really like this one, though.

(4) Not terrible, but might the Angels non-tender Morales, anyway?

For 1) who can always replace Carpenter with McNutt or Cashner.

3). You are right I forgot to add about 8 mil in.

4). Just a precaution in case they don't.

Yeah, well, y'know thats just like, uh, your opinion, man

Not just my opinion, Jim Bowden, Morgan Ensberg and a few more experts. I am a Cubs fan but it is time to be realistic. CJ Wilson is 31 and is going to want a big deal. Pujols wants a 8 yr deal. Fielder is young but has a bad body, who is going to want big years and money and most likely will not be able to stay at 1B passed 33.

There is the killer for the Team if they keep Cashner in the Pen and we need another SP. And Edwin Jackson is not the answer unless you like a ton of Walks. Here are more reason the Cubs need more help then is available this season.

i would consider a trade if the Cubs will truly be in a rebuild..but that won't happen.. Ricketts wants to follow the Red Sox model, we have a huge market team, tons of money available, large payroll, no way on earth do they rebuild. they are gonna spend the next couple of off seasons.

I think the Cubs will absolutely go after Fielder and make another splash or two this off season. Trading Garza will not happen because this team will not rebuild.

Tom Ricketts alway keep talking about building from the bottom up, which sounds Like a rebuild to me.
