I get your point on judging a player's motivation, I hate when the media does it to Jay Cutler every chance it gets ...

Precisely. A perfect example.

... but Castro has a history of losing interest ....

Based on what? His numbers are almost exactly the same from a tie score to being behind by 1, 2, 3, or 4 runs. I just don't think the numbers back up this feeling.

Yeah I don't need numbers to read body language it's something a lot of mammals can do, sometimes the guy doesn't look like he's all there. That AB looked like one of those instances in my opinion. He was walking around the plate lethargically during the AB and he whiffed at two pitches in the dirt. Like I said, I can understand why you don't like making body language a thing since there are no numbers or science that can back it up, but I don't think it's something that's smart to just ignore. And I can't blame him that much, I'm certainly not all there mentally for work 100% of the time, but sadly I also don't make millions of dollars a year doing my job.

Miserable effort today, those at-bats by Rizzo and Castro last inning were pathetic and they both looked completely disinterested.

Castro especially.........one could read it all over his face.

I have a huge issue with claiming you can read a person's motivation based on the look on his face. If he had gotten a hit, his "disinterest" would be looked upon as being "cool" under pressure. But if he K's, he's "disinterested". I dunno. Just a pet peeve of mine.

I think it's fair to say that every time a ball player steps up to the plate they are interested in getting a hit.

Two people on a street corner see the same accident. Two different versions of it are told. Sounds like a normal expectation.......

I get your point on judging a player's motivation, I hate when the media does it to Jay Cutler every chance it gets, but Castro has a history of losing interest and he waved at two balls in the dirt in that AB after looking locked in earlier. Rizzo's AB didn't look so much like he lacked motivation, he just doesn't seem to have an ounce of confidence against lefties. Either way Lillibridge should be up soon enough to end this game for us.
