World Series Miscellany: All Tied Up

MLB News and Rumors

new york san francisco giants logoSure, it delays the arrival of the offseason, but I think I’d rather have a competitive, close World Series than a sweep.

  • And it’s plenty close now, after the Giants beat the Royals 11-4 last night in San Francisco. That tied the series 2-2, with one more to go in San Francisco before it shifts back to Kansas City.
  • Last night’s game wound up another blowout, but it started out a near blowout in the other direction. The Royals BABIP’d the Giants to death en route to a 4-1 lead in the 3rd, but the Giants got one back in the bottom of the 3rd, tied it up in the 5th, scored three in the 6th, and then scored four in the 7th to really put things out of reach.
  • The most significant damage – five earned – came off of rookie lefty Brandon Finnegan, whom you may recall the Royals just drafted this year. It was a nice story, kid, but there will obviously be an adjustment process. Most draftees were doing it in instructional ball this month.
  • Game 5 is tonight at 7pm, and it features a Bumgarner/Shields rematch. Bumgarner got the better of that one, and it’s been a rough postseason, generally, for Shields.
