Even When He’s Scratched From the Starting Lineup, Kris Bryant Still Homers (VIDEO)

Chicago Cubs News, Cubs Minor Leagues and Prospects

kris bryant smileIn case you were worried when you saw the early reports that third baseman Kris Bryant had been scratched from today’s game in Las Vegas thanks to a shoulder issue, you can rest a little easy.

Not only did Bryant soon enter the game as the designated hitter, but in his first at bat, he did exactly what you’re thinking he did. He homered. Because he is ridiculous.

Hopefully the shoulder issue is just an early Spring Training adjustment, which is not uncommon. It could also potentially explain some of the throwing issues we’ve seen from him in the early going. The Cubs called it “shoulder fatigue,” for what that’s worth.

Either way, it’s not hindering the bat. He’s probably already homered again by the time you’re reading this.

UPDATE: Seriously. He did.

UPDATE 2: And BN’ers Giuseppe and Grant were on the spot with videos for homer number two, which feature absolutely fantastic, raw crowd reactions:
