BN Trade Deadline Blogathon: Hour 9

Chicago Cubs Rumors, Meta

dusty sleeping blogathonI am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 38 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

That was a really busy three-hour stretch. Previous recap here.

Be advised: the first Live Stream is coming at 3pm CT. Come back to BN to tune in.

Total Posts So Far:

News and Rumors Since the Last Recap:

The Blue Jays picked up David Price. The Cubs might be interested in Yovani Gallardo. The Cubs might still be looking to trade Starlin Castro.

Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:

Definitely the Castro stuff. It’s complicated. Read that post, I guess.

Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:

If the Cubs *do* trade Castro, it changes the complexion of August and September dramatically. I’d need to see what else was done to really have a position on it. I can see keeping Castro being the right move. I can see dealing Castro being the right move.

Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:

Coke Zero, and a giant glass of water.

Rally Bucket Status:

Sliding all around as I type feverishly.

Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:

Just trying to figure out what I’m going to have for lunch/dinner. Not sure which meal it will be by the time I eat.
