After stomping the Padres yesterday 11-1, the Chicago Cubs head to Surprise Stadium to take on the reigning World Series Champion Kansas City Royals.
John Lackey will start the game for the Cubs, in his second appearance of the Spring, and he’ll look to improve on his last outing, where he gave up five hits, one walk and one home run in 3 innings against the Reds.
Although, as we’ve said countless times before, results don’t really matter for players like Lackey; it’s more about how he looks and feels throughout his start. Lackey will also get a chance to bat in this one, as the Cubs are going without a DH.
Jorge Soler gets some more time in left field, as he prepares to get most of his starts there, this season. And, Javier Baez gets another look in center. At this point, he’s third on the depth chart there, but being certain about his abilities will allow the front office to make other related roster decisions more comfortably.
(Edit: whoops, forgot the broadcast info) Today’s game will be broadcast on CSN. Additional video and audio of the game will also be made available on MLB.tv or through the AtBat app. For future reference, you can check which games will be televised here.
