Pre-NLCS-Gamin’: Cubs at Dodgers (7:00 CT) – Lineup, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

The Chicago Cubs split their two-game home stand to open up the NLCS at Wrigley Field, which I don’t think was the worst outcome, considering the Dodgers’ Game 2 starter.

Their odds of reaching and winning the World Series have fallen slightly, but the Cubs seem to have a pretty good match-up over the next two days.

Taking the ball for Chicago tonight is Jake Arrieta. Arrieta’s last start (Game 3 of the NLDS) also came on the road in California, and he did fairly well that night. In the end, he finished with with 6.0 innings pitched, having given up 2 earned runs, on 6 hits and 1 walk against 5 strikeouts. While I think he’s capable of doing even better than that, you couldn’t be mad if he repeated that performance tonight.

Opposing Arrieta and the Cubs is lefty, former-Cub, and renaissance’d man Rich Hill. We already took a deep dive into Hill’s resurgent year with the A’s and Dodgers in 2016, so check that out for greater detail. I will note, however, that he went just 4.1 and 2.2 IP in Games 2 and 5 against the Nationals in the NLDS last week. So, the Cubs could serve themselves well (tonight and the rest of the series), by knocking Hill around and out early for his third consecutive postseason start. The back of their bullpen is scary, but the rest is beatable.

Okay. Three games. Los Angeles. NLCS. Let’s do this.
