Chicago Cubs Lineup: Russell is Back, Jimenez in Left, Heyward Again

Cubs Lineups

The Cubs are back at relative full strength, with both Anthony Rizzo and Addison Russell making their way into the lineup.

To the extent that you were nervous (you really shouldn’t have been), feel free to exhale. Here’s the Cubs lineup v. Team Italy.

  1. Kyle Schwarber, DH
  2. Tommy La Stella, 3B
  3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  4. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  5. Addison Russell, SS
  6. Jason Heyward, RF
  7. Miguel Montero, C
  8. Eloy Jimenez, LF
  9. John Jay, CF

Starting Pitcher: John Lackey

Kyle Schwarber leads thing off once again, followed by another appearance from Tommy La Stella. But, as I said the intro the most important thing is that both Anthony Rizzo and Addison Russell are back in the swing of things (Rizzo was back yesterday). Considering how important each is the the Cubs chances in 2017, I am glad to see them back so soon.

But today, my attention will be fixed on the outfield corners. In left we have Cubs top prospect Eloy Jimenez, who is already having a really nice Spring (.316/.333/.526), and in right we have (a hopefully new and improved) Jason Heyward.

Heyward got things started yesterday with a double and a home run (his first two hits of the Spring) and I’m sure he’s looking to carry that momentum forward. Here’s to it.

We’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time.
