Chicago Cubs Lineup: The Cactus League Finale

Cubs Lineups

It’s here. Did you even realize it?

No, it’s not quite what I’d call the end of Spring Training as a whole – the Cubs have two exhibition games in Houston after today’s game – but it is the end of the “Cactus League” slate.

Here’s the Cubs’ final-ish lineup:

  1. Kyle Schwarber, DH
  2. Kris Bryant, 3B
  3. Jason Heyward, RF
  4. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  5. Willson Contreras, C
  6. Albert Almora Jr., CF
  7. Matt Szczur, LF
  8. Victor Caratini, 1B
  9. Carlos Penalver, SS

Starting Pitcher: John Lackey

After missing several games with a stiff neck, Ben Zobrist now plays in his second game in a row. So he’s clearly good to go.

Addison Russell, however, continues to sit out with his back tightness issue, and will hopefully be fine by this weekend.

Elsewhere, Jason Heyward slides up into the three-hole, as Anthony Rizzo gets the day off. Matt Szczur starts in left field with the days dwindling before the Cubs have to make a decision about whether to roster him (and option Tommy La Stella or a pitcher to Iowa), make a trade (if one is available), or place Szczur on waivers (where he’ll almost certainly be claimed).

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time.
