I would like to puke and also punch a wall and also throw some things.
There will be a lot to say about this one tomorrow – when we have more information on what must be wrong with Wade Davis, such that he wasn’t on the mound in the 9th – because so much continues to go wrong for the Cubs. [Small update, and we will get into this tomorrow when I’ve finished cursing privately: Maddon said after the game that he was saving Davis for the save.]
Even on a night when the team got a decent outing from Jon Lester, great bullpen work until the 9th inning, and fantastic defense, the bats could do nothing and the shaky overall bullpen situation bit them again.
It’s such a punch in the gut to be right into that game until the bottom of the 9th, and then two walks and a walk-off homer by Justin Turner off of John Lackey, pitching as a true reliever for the second night in a row (for some reason).
I have to go back to my puking and punching and throwing. More later.
