Old Friends Return: Matt Murton and Chris Denorfia Are Joining the Cubs Front Office

Chicago Cubs News

Two former Cubs outfielders are returning to the organization in a new role:

Chris Denorfia played in parts of 10 big league seasons, his final coming in 2015 with the Cubs. His connection to this front office extends back before that, though, as he was a player in San Diego when Jed Hoyer was the boss there (and in fact it was with Hoyer’s Padres that Denorfia broke out as a 29-year-old).

I will always remember Denorfia for supplying the winning RBI in not one but TWO Cubs 1-0 walk-off wins in 2015. What are the odds of that?!?

Matt Murton will have excellent and unique experience to bring to bear in his role, having worked his way up to the big leagues, having then gone to Japan and become a star, and then having come back to the State to try to make another go of it in his later years.
