Yu Darvish was giving up some firm contact in the first inning today against his old mates from Texas, but he got an assist from a trio of defenders to net him an out.
After Joey Gallo reached first on a hard single to right, Elvis Andrus ripped a double into the left field corner. You knew Gallo was going to try to score, but with a new-and-improved Kyle Schwarber out that way, I’m thinking the defender got to the ball more quickly than Gallo’s third base coach expected.
The rest is all about the arms (via @Cubs):

Well, the arms and the glove there at the end by Willson Contreras.
Schwarber has always had an excellent arm (his quick transfer there is what really helped), and Javy Baez obviously has a rocket. So that’s a beautiful relay right there, and the kind of play that gets me extra tingly for the regular season.
